Love prevails.
By Athinka, October 21, 2011

It is so encouraging to hear of long term lesbian relationships. I am just 31 years old and feel somewhat hopeless sometimes in regards to the the ability of my generation to commit to another (myself included). This is a topic that my friends and I discuss constantly....the need for positive role models. It has been enlightening to hear that others have gone through somewhat similar struggles, but knowing the end result will all be worth it.

Yes, this is a book that needed to be written...and one that needs to be read.

Love prevails.

Straight people should read this book!

...preferably aloud, to each other. In clear, lovingly crafted prose, Leila Peters (full disclosure: she is a relative of mine) has drawn aside the curtain of socio-political polemics to reveal a collection of life-stories that feel as deeply familiar as any we've heard from our own best friends. The voices that emerge are full of humor, nostalgia, gratitude and pride. And wisdom. Listen. But not only for their sakes. They don't need to be heard so much as we need to hear them.
